Just days before the world environment day good news for science lovers of the city, Children’s science club has now affiliation from VIPNET. Children’s Science Club: A Group of Ignited Minds was established eight years ago in Raigarh city to spread scientific values among children, and to encourage them to think scientifically and work scientifically. This is the only science club in the district that was formed out of school. VIPNET is a national network of thousands of science clubs situated in various parts of India . VIPNET works under the supervision of Vigyan Prasar an autonomous organisation under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. This children’s science club popularly known as CSCAGIM with its initials, organises meeting on regular intervals for its members to discuss on scientific issues. Club also celebrate national and international science days. Club’s foundation day 15 October is celebrated as scientist day in respect of scientists. Now with this affiliation club’s activity will get recognition on national level. Its members also get a chance to be select for National Children’s Science Congress, where junior scientists from all over India come and show their talent and met with renowned scientists of India and abroad. Principal scientific officer of Vigyan Prasar Mr. B K Tyagi has wrote, in a letter sent with the affiliation certificate, that the club should go ahead with new and innovative projects never carried out before.
Children’s Science club’s members has recently organised a workshop on world health day, and some months ago, selected members of the club were on an educational excursion trip of Gomarda sanctuary by forest department. The advisory board of the club constituted by Dr. Suchitra Tripathi, Saroj Kumar asst. prof. of Chemistry, R S Prasad lecturer of physics, Dinesh Shadangi nature scientist; has expressed happiness over this achievement of club.
In coming day’s club will organise an inter-school “Junior Scientist Talent Search” competition. Selected children shall awarded membership of the club and mentored for National children’s Science Congress
